Prayer has gained importance as it helps us and heals us from within

India is a land of culture and tradition and people of this country have a deep faith in prayers/prarthana. Prayer or Prarthana is a way of seeking help or requesting the governor to resolve the problems and is also the means to communicate with God through the immediately available mediums of space, speech, sounds, and sacrifices.

Prayer is an opportunity to spend time with God. To really understand the heart of God, you need to pray.

According to Vedic mythology, prayer is performed by chanting religious mantras to communicate with God and seek his blessings and also ask for some materialistic favors. In the Vedic period, people used to perform different rituals, perform yagna to fulfill their desires or seek strength to accomplish their tasks. People would pray on different occasions like,

· To acquire power and fulfill their wishes.

· To heal the diseases and overcome death

· To destroy enemies and win wars

· To bring sacredness to the surrounding

· To welcome prosperity and peace

· To be popular and powerful

· To seek forgiveness for the sins

· To completely surrender themselves to the almighty.

One of the most said prayers is the Shanti mantra that is chanted to bring peace to the world, peace to the mind and body. The greatest epics like Ramayana and Mahabharata put light on the fact that God will definitely answer the genuine prayers of his devotees and brings them out of their troubles.

Prayers, however, are performed in the form of mantras, japas, kirtanas, and bhajans. The mantras carry supreme powers that create positive vibrations helpful in reaching the almighty and appease him to fulfill their desires.

Japa is a way of chanting the name of one or more gods continuously to get control over one’s mind and purify the senses.

Bhajans or kirtans are devotional songs usually sung in groups to keep the surrounding peaceful and sanctify their senses. One must ensure that prayer must be central, not peripheral, in our lives and families and ministries.

The power of prayer is so great it has the power to defeat the devil and his power over us. Prayer gives us the strength and the faith to finish the race victoriously. So, take out some time from your busy schedule every day and surrender yourself to the powerful almighty.
