Important Facts

It is believed that when Danveer Karna died in the Mahabharata war and his soul reached heaven, he was given gold and jewelry to eat instead of regular food. Disappointed with this, Karna's soul asked Indra Dev the reason for this. Then Indra told Karna that you donated gold jewelry to others throughout your life but never donated food to your ancestors. Then Karna replied that he did not know about his ancestors. After listening to him, Lord Indra allowed him to return to Earth for a period of 15 days so that he could donate food to his ancestors. This 15-day period is known as Pitru Paksha. The last day of Pitru Paksha is known as Sarva Pitru Amavasya.
