Lord Vishnu is one of the supreme Gods of the Hindu pantheon, second & the middle among the Hindu Trinity. Know to be the most merciful Lord, he guards all his devotees with happiness, prosperity, and success.

Importance of Narayan Mantra

Devoted to the Lord Vishnu, this is one of the divine & highly scared mantra, commonly known as ‘Ashtakshara Mantra’- the eight-lettered invocation or an eighth-syllable hymn in Sanskrit. Explained by the various rishis, philosophers and acharyas over the centuries were taught by the Vedic seers to the seekers. This simple to utter mantra which means ‘I bow to Lord Narayana’ is extremely used in prayers, yogic practices, meditation, and worship as well.

“Om Namo Narayana”

The invocation begins with the word ‘Om’ which is the cosmic sound, encompassing energy, all of the universe and consciousness. More accurately considered as “AUM” this is the vibration of the divinity, creating a frequency offering relief from stress, fatigue, & anxieties of the mind.

‘Namo’ is derived from “Namah” of the root ‘Nam’ is basically a Sanskrit word, used by Indians to greet saying ‘Namaste’ or ‘Namaskar’. It is nothing but salutation or bowing down in front of someone or gratitude.

Further, the word ‘Narayana’ the name of the Lord comprises more complex roots & interpretations. In Sanskrit, the word “Nara” means ‘water’ but is normally referred to as a ‘human being’. Moreover, the term “Ayana” refers to the ‘resting place’, ‘shelter’ or even ‘ultimate goal’. With Vaikuntha as the abode of Lord Vishnu, whose resting place is water is responsible for the preservation of this entire existence.
