Nakshatras or the stars have got a lot of importance in Hinduism and they play a major role in defining the personality of an individual and his destiny. Nakshatra is one of 27 divisions of the zodiac wherein each of the constellations covers 13 degrees and 20 minutes and are ruled by the nine planets.

The list of the 27 nakshatras is as follows:
