Moon (Chandra) Mantras Recitation

The Moon is called Chandra Graha in Hinduism and in Sanskrit Chandra means shining. The Chandra Graha is also called Soma and is the ruler of one’s mind. Chandra is connected with the behaviour of a person and according to the Vedic scriptures; Moon controls the potential of mind and it provides the power to meditate, concentrate and the resistance to fight against cold diseases.

Moon is an indicator of femininity, beauty, happiness, mother, and child. Chandra Graha rules the zodiac Cancer (Karka) and the natives of this sign are generally sensitive, approachable, and thoughtful.

However, individuals with afflicted Moon in their horoscope will not be able to focus on their work and are fickle minded. They will have difficulties in making decisions, lack confidence and develop an inferiority complex. Also, with weak Moon, the person will suffer from diseases such as cough, fever, cold, paralysis, bronchitis, typhoid, epilepsy and cancer. But, one can come out of the malefic effects of Chandra Graha by chanting Moon Mantras as per the rituals mentioned in the holy scriptures.

One can find Moon Mantra for healing of diseases and there is also Chandra Mantra for mental peace which is “Shvetambharah Shveta Vibhushanascha Shveta DhuyatirDandadharo DvibahuhuChandro Mrutatma Varadhah Kireeti Mayi Prasadam Vidhdhatu Devah”

The Chandra Beej Mantra is “Om Shram Shrim Shroom Sah Chandramasey Namah” and the Chandra Navagraha Mantra is “Dadhi Shankha Tushaaraabham Kshiirodaarnasambhavam, Namaami Shashinam Somam Shambhormukuta Bhushanam -

Om Chandraaya Namah”.

The person suffering from the exiled Moon must start chanting these mantras on a Monday as it is the day of Chandra. It is also advised to chant 18 malas of any of the mantras mentioned above to get complete benefits.
