Gayatri mantra: a means for the overall development of a human being.

Mantras are repetitive sounds used to penetrate into the depths of the unconscious mind and adjust the vibration of all aspects of your being. Mantras are vibrated through chanting aloud, mental practice, or by listening to them. The Sanskrit word mantra is derived from the root of man which means “to think,” and tra from trai which means “to protect or to free from bondage” or “to free from the mind.”

However, of all the mantras, the Gayatri Mantra is regarded as the Mother of all the Mantras. Gayatri Mata is also the Veda Mata or the epitome of the galaxy of Vedas.

You can call the Gayatri mantra as the summation of all the Vedas. So, chanting Gayatri mantra will give you the complete experience of chanting all the Vedas. A famous verse about Gayatri Mantra says, “Gayan Trayate Iti Gayatri” which means Gayatri mantra is the one that takes care of those who chant it with their whole heart.

The Gayatri mantra:

Om Bhur Bhuva Suvaha Tat Savitur Varenyam

Bhargo Devasya Dheemahi Dhiyo Yonah Prachodayaat

The mantra also has five faces like Gayatri Mata and is represented by the set of words 1) Om 2) Bur Bhuva Suvaha 3) Tat Savitur Varenyam 4) Bhargo Devasya Dhimahi 5) Dhiyo Yonah Prachodayaat.

Gayatri is nothing but a glorious light. Every goddess has three forms namely Mantra, Yantra, and Tantra. Gayatri is one of the three feminine names of Sun God namely Gayatri, Savitri, and Saraswati. Seated in a beautiful lotus flower, Gayatri holds in her ten hands boon giving pose, protective pose, noose, goad, whip, cup, skull, mace, conch (shankha) and discus (chakra). Gayatri Mata has five faces.

Gayatri mantra does not talk about one god or deity, therefore, it is highly regarded universally and scientifically. People of all caste and creed can chant this mantra as it addresses the supreme power that creates, sustains and dissolves this universe.

There is no specific time to chant this mantra, you can chant while travelling, working or even while you are relaxing. Once you develop the habit if reciting this mantra, it would become a vital part of your life and you will start repeating even without your knowledge.

The benefits of chanting Gayatri mantra are immense;
