According to Hindu mythology, goddess Gayatri appeared on the earth for the first time in the form of knowledge and from that time this holy day is celebrated as Gayatri Jayanti in the Hindu religion. Goddess Gayatri is also considered as the mother of all the holy Vedas. It is also believed that a great sage Vishwamitra has chanted Gayatri Mantra for the first time on this day. Goddess Gayatri is a manifestation of Goddess Parvati, Goddess Saraswati, and Goddess Laxmi. Ancient scriptures tell that she is a supreme Goddes and she is worshipped as Mother Goddess in the Hindu religion.

A devote should offer prayer and pooja with great devotion to Goddess Gayatri on the occasion of Gayatri Jayanti.
