This Yagya consists of a total of 11 Homam Kundas where the priests offer sacrificial items like ghee etc. Each of the Ritvik or the Vedic Scholars takes nearly 3 hours to complete one sitting. Furthermore, this ritual will last up to 11 consecutive days.

Important Facts

To appease Lord Shankar, many devotees chant or recite the Sri Rudram which is also known as Rudraprasna and is a part of the Yajur Veda. This Sri Rudram helps to relieve your pain, nullify the Doshas and difficulties. Divided into two parts, the first part of Sri Rudram i.e; the 16 Chapters is known as Namakam due to the repeated use of the word Namo.

The second part consists of 18 Chapters of the Yajur Veda, known as Chamakam because of its repeated use of the word Chame. Furthermore, each of the Namakam and Chamakam consists of 11 called “Anuvakams”.

“Roopam” is the routine chanting of Sri Rudram that consists of chanting Namakam.

“Ekadasa Rudram” is the 11 recitations of Namakam followed by one recitation of Chamakam.

“Laghu Rudram” consists of 11 rounds of Ekadasa Rudram.

“Maha Rudram” includes the chanting of Laghu Rudram in 11 rounds.

“Ati Rudram” constitutes 11 rounds of chanting Maha Rudram.
