Lord Muruga is the son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati who gifted him a spear or the Vel that consisted of the complete powers of all the Goddesses that could destroy the hearts of the demonic forces. His name Muruga literally means “The Beautiful One”, who is the symbol of eternal love, wisdom, youth, and liberation.

As Lord Muruga rules the planet Mars that represents Tuesday, which is the auspicious day to perform this ritual. For best results, this Homam is performed on the 6th Moon Day, i.e; Shashti which is known as the power day of the planet Mars and Muruga.
