What's Included

Ayyappan Homam includes fire rituals and reciting of Ayyappa mantras. It also includes the offering of holy materials like vibhuti, honey, panchamrutam, tender coconut water, sandalwood or Chandan, rosewater, water, etc to the deity, which will later be distributed among the attendants of the Homam.

Important Facts

The legends explain that Mahishi; Mahishasura’s sister was very much upset with her brother’s death and so she wanted to teach the Gods a lesson. Mahishi carried out severe penance to appease Lord Brahma. Finally, Lord Brahma was moved by Mahishi penance and agreed to give her the boon. Mahishi asked Brahma Dev to grant her a boon that she would only be killed by a child born to Lord Vishnu and Shiva.

Mahishi started torturing the gods and goddess as she felt she was immortal. But, to put an end to the chaos created by Mahishi, Lord Vishnu took the form of Mohini and united with Lord Shiva to give birth to the divine child. This child was none other than Lord Ayyappa. The main purpose of Ayyappa’s birth was to kill the demoness Mahishi and give her moksha.

Ayyappan Homam will be specially performed in the month of December and January. Homam time will be decided after analyzing your birth chart. After performing this Homam devotee will be capable to attain spiritual path.
