What's Included

On this day, many devotees observe fast and offer prayers to the divine Lord Vishnu, chanting the sacred mantras from the holy Bhagawad Gita. Just before Ekadashi, the devotees keep the Vrat which is called the Chaitra Shukla Paksha Dasami. It is advised to sleep on the ground, get up early in the morning and take a soil bath.

Once all the required items are collected, you should clean the area where the idol or the image of the Lord Vishnu is to be placed. Then, decorate the Chowki, place the idol, and apply the sandalwood or the Chandan paste tilak on the forehead of the Lord.

Further, offer the holy basil or the Tulsi which is highly loved by Lord Vishnu and also light incense sticks, Diyas and pray to the Lord. Once the water, fruits, sweets and prasad is offered to the Lord, light up the Camphor/Kapur, Aarti & Niranjan in a clockwise mode.

Conclude this Gita Homam on Dwadashi, which is the day on which the devotees should end their fast.
