When is Kojagari Puja actually celebrated

As per the Georgia calendar, Kojagari Puja 2020 falls on the 30th of the month of October. According to the Hindu Lunar calendar, Kojagari Puja is celebrated on Purnima in the month of Ashwin to seek divine blessings from Goddess Lakshmi.

What to do on Kojagari Puja

This ritual is generally observed by married women. Women, fast on this day for significant results. Devotees must break their fast after the Kojagari Puja is accomplished. The idol or image of Goddess Lakshmi is decorated with fresh flowers and kheer as well as khichdi is offered as naivedyam to the deity.

Women draw Alpana in front of the door of their house as it symbolizes the feet of Goddess Lakshmi. Decorate your house with earthen lamps as it is believed that Goddess Lakshmi visits all the houses to bestow her devotee with divine blessings. Observe vigil overnight and recite mantras as well as perform bhajan, kirtans to appease Goddess Lakshmi.
