Devi Pratyangira is one of the most powerful deities and is one of the incarnations of the goddess Durga. This deity is highly revered in Hinduism as she protects her devotees from all sorts of negative energies and from the evil acts of black magic.

Pratyangira is portrayed as a goddess in half human and half lion form. This dark-complexioned deity seated on lions has red eyes raging in anger and her four arms can be found holding serpent, drum, and tridents. In the ancient scriptures, it is mentioned that the goddess had a total of 1008 faces and 2016 hands. She took this furious form in order to pacify Lord Shiva’s ferocious manifestation; Sarbeshwara. Lord Shiva incarnated as Sarabeshwara to calm down Narasimha.

It is stated in the religious texts that worshipping Pratyangira Devi and chanting the powerful mantras of the Goddess will abundantly bless the devotees. The mantras have the energy to curb the ill effects and the person reciting them will be protected from the bad and cruel intentions of enemies.

The Gayatri mantra of Pratyangira Devi is - “Aum Aparajithayai Vidmahe Shatru Nishoodinyai DheemahiTanno Pratyangira Prachodayaat”. By chanting this mantra you are asking Devi Pratyangira to destroy enemies and help in leading a contented life.

The moola mantra of Pratyangira Devi is - “Aum Ksham Paksha Jvala Jihve Karala DamshtrePratyangire Ksham Hreem Hum Phat”. It is explained in the holy scriptures that this moola mantra which is a combination of various beej mantras is effective in driving away from the evil forces and restoring positivity.

Tuesday or Friday would be ideal to start chanting the mantra. Even days like Ashtami, full moon day and new moon day are considered auspicious to begin this ritual. The best time to recite Pratyangira Devi mantra is at night and one must chant this mantra 108 or 1008 times to get immense benefits.
