According to the Hindu scriptures, Goddess Lakshmi is considered as the Goddess of Wealth, worshiped with utmost devotion & faith by the devotees to achieve success, prosperity, wealth, happiness & glory. In Hinduism, there are many forms of this Goddess Lakshmi who are known for their supernatural powers & is always accompanies her husband Lord Vishnu in his every incarnations.

Depending on the eight forms, Goddess Lakshmi has different names as given below;

  1. Dhanya Lakhsmi
  2. Gaja Lakshmi
  3. Adi Lakshmi
  4. Vijaya Lakshmi
  5. Aishwarya Lakshmi
  6. Veera Lakshmi
  7. Dhan Lakshmi
  8. Santan Lakshmi

Said to be the manifestation of Goddess Lakshmi, Vaibhav Lakshmi is worshipped for peace, prosperity and happiness. Many devotees observe fast or Vrat on Fridays which is for the planet Venus. This day is dedicated to Mother Goddess Mahalakshmi, Santoshi Maa, Annapurneshwari and Durga.

People observe fast for 16 days to fulfill their wish to bring in the good health, wealth, luck, happiness, & fortunes. But just before commencing this puja and the Vrat as well, one should wake up early & take bath, make a wish, to perform morning prayers and Sankalp or commit the number of Fridays you will devote to Goddess Lakshmi.

Vaibhav Lakshmi Friday Vrat Vidhi

Place a clean red cloth on the wooden Chauki or the plank and keep the picture or statue of the Maa Lakshmi or Shree Yantra. Next keep the brass or copper Kalash on the handful of rice spread on the cloth. Add water in the Kalash with a gold or silver or a one rupee coin in it. Apply the sandalwood paste to the coin & Kalash and offer red flowers.

Once the mantras are chanted, offer Neivedyam to the Goddess Lakshmi which are listed below;

  • Coconut & other fruits,
  • Betel leaves and betel nut
  • Panchamrut- a mixture of ghee, curd, milk, honey and sugar. You can also add banana, dry grapes and dates
  • A sweet dish made of rice, jaggery and milk, i.e; Payasam or Kheer

After the completion of 16 days fast, Udyapan is to be performed where you have to invite 16 women, apply kumkum, offer gifts, prasadam, bindi, kheer & Vaibhav Lakshmi books.

Friday Fast Rules

  • Keep the Vrat for either 11 or 21 Fridays with no negative thoughts in your mind.
  • In case of death of any family member, you can resume this Vrat after 17 days.
  • Eat meal only once in a day accompanied by dry fruits, nuts & fruits. Non veg, eggs, garlic, sour etc are not to be consumed.
