Important Facts

When Lord Krishna and his army began to look at the neighborhood houses to get yogurt and milk, the women of the neighborhood started to take precautions. In the attempt to save the pots filled with butter and yogurt started hanging at a height. The main idea behind this was to take advantage of the small height of the young Lord Krishna and his army to save these utensils from their hands by keeping them out of reach.

To challenge the thinking of these women, Lord Krishna devised a plan to climb and build human pyramids to reach the pottery. Since that period, Dahi Handi has become a fun and vibrant festival among Indian culture. Today in almost all parts of India, the breaking of the earthen pot is considered auspicious and the festival of Dahi Handi is celebrated with great devotion and enthusiasm in many parts of India.
