Important Facts

According to mythological beliefs, once Chaya, the wife of Surya Dev was frightened by his fierce sharpness and closed his eyes. Later, Shanidev was born from the womb of Chaya. Seeing the dark color of Saturn, Surya accused wife Chhaya that Shani is not his son. It is said that since then Shani has enmity with his father Surya. Shani Dev meditated on Shiva for many years. Pleased with the devotion of Shani Dev, Shivji asked him to ask for a boon.

Shanidev prayed, "My mother Chhaya has been defeated for ages, she has been greatly humiliated and tortured by my father Surya. That is why my mother wishes that I become more powerful and revered than my father. " Then Lord Shiva gave him a boon and said, "Your place in the Navagrahas will be the best. You will be the judge and magistrate of the earth."
